December 19 2022 - META has published 3 new long form articles delving deep into their current and future VR technologies, along with some of the design philosophy and reasoning for heading in the direction they are.
The first article is an Op-Ed from META CTO and head of Reality Labs Andrew Bosworth. In it he outlines his case for the future of VR, and hints that some major announcements can be expected at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase this spring, and that the successor to the Quest 2 will be revealed in 2023.
For the past couple of years now, I’ve written about what we look forward to in the coming year. 2022 came with highs, lows, and plenty of skepticism about our vision for the future. Here’s why we remain tremendously optimistic about what’s next https://t.co/NcKTBPXcdo

The next article explores the latest META optical stack, dubbed Infinite Display, and makes the case for industry standard VR screen comparison metrics that go beyond screen resolution.
And the 3rd article goes in depth into the technologies and capabilities of META's mixed reality software and hardware which they've branded Meta Reality. Many other commenters have already noted the similarity to the name Apple Reality which Apple is seemingly moving forward with as their own branding.
We also went deep on the new foundational tech on Quest Pro that will have continued impact on our future devices: Meta Reality, our MR system, and Infinite Display, our custom-built optical stack

META continues to provide positive indicators of dedication and investment in the future of the VR/MR industry, despite increasing competition in the space, recent criticism of Horizon Worlds, the high cost of the Quest Pro, and the departure of John Carmack from META.
