We have some new leaks/rumors and further confirmation of previous rumors about the highly anticipated Apple VR Headset, including it's name - the Apple Reality Pro.
Apple positions it's stand out features as Eye and Hand Tracking technologies, which enable a controllerless user interface via "look and pinch". This interface is said to be very similar to the current IOS interface on devices such as the Iphone.
Meanwhile, it's "killer app" will be facetime videoconferencing and communications which allow for photorealistic avatars in 1-on-1 meetings, while dropping down to apple's Memoji style avatars for larger group sessions due to processing constraints.
Apple is also leveraging some key partnerships with content providers from the video production world and their AppleTV platform to launch with some immersive video content.
On the productivity end of things, the device is also said to have native compatibility with Mac Computers and is able to act as an external display, while still allowing keyboard and trackpad inputs via the AR passthrough function.
In terms of design, it's being described as thematically similar to the design of the new Airpods Max headphones, including the coloration, aluminum body, cushion texture, and even the inclusion of the familiar digital crown for quick changes between VR and AR views on the device.
Some other information share in the article includes further confirmation that the price target is approximately $3000 USD, and is most likely going to be release this spring.
Mark Gurman at Bloomberg shares these key insights provided by people familiar with the development of the headset.
