The team at QuestCraft has been hard at work to bring Minecraft Java to the Quest, and it's now officially released!
QuestCraft makes use of MCXR, a fabric mod which uses OpenXR to render the game in VR. It also makes use of PojavLauncher, a Minecraft launcher for Android based systems.
QuestCraft is also now listed on SideQuest for easier installation. Although it is a 2-step installation process, it's still relatively straight forward. As always with custom software or SideQuest apps, you will need to ensure developer mode is enabled. You will also need an official Minecraft account with a purchased copy of Minecraft Java edition to make this work. Youtuber The Mystical has created an excellent video installation guide, which you will find linked below.
While performance is good enough for solid gameplay, the developers are still working on optimizing this aspect.
Key features:
Mods (Fabric Mods) work. Not every mod has been tested, so your mileage may vary.
Motion controlled player arms work.
Local multiplayer works.
Online multiplayer can be made to work with a workaround.
What are you waiting for? This is Minecraft running natively on the Quest!
