The XTAL 3 Mixed Reality has just been announced by vrgineers, and they are now accepting pre-orders! See more including specifications below.

VRgineers continue to improve upon their high end XTAL series of headsets with the release of the XTAL 3 Mixed Reality, not to be confused with the standard XTAL 3 headset released late last year. This new headset features an extreme FOV of 180° Horizontal by 90° Verticle, and users two separate high pixel density 4k displays, for a total of 8k when both eyes are considered.

New to this headset is the passthrough hand tracking, which will be useful for their target market, which is military simulation, especially for Air Force pilots. Pilots now has the option of grasping the virtual control elements in the simulation using hand tracking, for a more translatable training experience.

The headset also feature non-fresnel lenses and a custom eye tracking system. While most consumers will not be able to experience this headset given the cost of $11,500, this is certainly a bargain compared to most other Air Force pilot training simulators.
