The Information commissioners office (UK) is now in talks with Meta about implementation of child safety protocols after pressure group "Center for Countering Digital Hate" (CCDH) deems the Metaverse unsafe.

Some of the problematic behaviors noted by the group include graphic sexual content presented to minors, sexual harassment and bullying, racist comments and extreme viewpoints, and threats of violence. It is to be noted that all of these behaviors are not allowed under the VRChat community guidelines. It should also be noted that users of the Quest 2 must be at least 13 years tears of age, and that Meta has issued guidance that all minors should only use the device under adult supervision. It's not known whether the CCDH actively sought out this type of content, or whether it was encountered purely by chance. The group does have an active campaign promoting Quest 2 owners to return their headsets.

Is this another case where Censorship is called for on the disingenuous basis of protecting children? Older readers will remember the hysteria over violent video games in the '90's.
